The exposition arose from a project by artist El Loko, who in 1992 invited three Togolese artists (Sokey Edorh, Massimo Wanssi, Amouzou Glikpa Akouété) and five German (Peter Kowald, Thomas Schönauer, Ulrike Arnold, Regine Rothlach, Eva Ohlow) to his home village of Pedakondji, in southern Togo, to engage in an artistic African-European dialogue.
